Lights, Camera, Vivid!
09 March 2017
It’s that time again guys, the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas is on again and it’s time to start piecing together your itinerary.
Kicking into action on 26 May 2017, you’ve got over four weeks to make your way down to Sydney to experience the harbor city at its brightest.
Regardless of whether you’re in Sydney for the full festival or just a weekend you will not run out of things to see and experience.
With 180 light displays scattered throughout the city, 237 opportunities to dance, sing or chill to local sounds and 307 idea sharing forums during the festival, unless you have a magic cloning machine or a Tardis, it’s impossible to run out of things to see and do during Vivid.
For those having trouble deciding where to start, here are a couple of highlights we recommend ticketing off your Vivid bucket list:
Vivid Light Walk
The world famous Vivid Light Walk will take you to see the best of the best installations in Sydney during Vivid.
Starting on Alfred Street, behind Circular Quay, the walk takes you along Sydney’s water front to see some of the larger scale illuminations and the most spectacular of the 3D-mapped building projections.
It’s a great starting point and an easy way to experience a little bit of everything the festival has to offer. Check out the full walk itinerary here.
Dinner under the Opera House
By far one of the best places to sit, eat and absorb the incredible atmosphere created by Vivid, the Opera Bar will give you an amazing view not only the Opera house, but the Harbour Bridge and harbour itself.
You may need to book, particularly if you’re with a big group, but your forward planning will be rewarded with an amazing menu, complimented by a mesmerising view. For more information visit the Oper Bar website.
Light gaze on the Harbour
Sip sparkling wine while on board a comfortable harbor cruise, enjoying the spectacular reflections created by Vivid’s light installations and the glorious Sydney cityscape.
This short cruise will give you some extra insta-worthy pictures that will make everyone back home jealous of your Sydney escape.
Cruises can be picked up for as little as $19 per person depending on when you’re planning to go. For a couple of suggestions check out ‘Best Vivid Cruises for 2017’
